So our Saint Patrick's Day performance at the 449 Room turned out
to be better than we had expected... We had been worried about how many people would be able to make it, and at first
the place was dead, but a little before we went on, the doors seemed to open up and plenty of people came in to fill
the room. You guys rock!
You have to take a look at the pictures from this show. The whole band really went a little nuts in terms of
having appropriate outfits for Saint Patrick's Day. It was great!
We started off the set a little rough. With no soundcheck, we were hoping all of the instrument levels were good.
Turns out, they weren't. The guitar was down too low, which made it hard for everyone to hear where exactly we were.
So one song was a bit rough, and then the guitar was turned up and everything was fine.
During "You Know It All", Jaime finally had a bra thrown at her! She loved it! She continued to spin
the bra around in the air throughout the rest of the song. If anyone wants to continue this new tradition, we'd
definitely get a kick out of it.
We kept it Irish during the first cover - we had to do "Zombie" by the Cranberries. We also threw in a
new cover for the evening - "Scars" by Papa Roach. It seemed to go over very well, as you could hear everyone
singing along with us during the quieter portions of the song. Hope you guys enjoyed!
Since the night was getting later, we decided to skip "The Ledge" and moved right into our featured song
series for the evening. Bill started with a heavy drum beat while Jaime and Laura cranked out some heavy distorted
chords... Then we all burst into a metal version of "The Irish Washerwoman" while Bel did some traditional Irish dance
moves on the floor. The audience swarmed in and formed a circle around her. Everyone seemed to love it! Once the
dancing was done, Jaime tossed the bass to Bel and we headed into a punked out version of "Danny Boy". And finally,
we wrapped up that song and ended the set with our very own "Abandon Me." It was a really strong ending and we were
definitely happy with what we did. The audience seemed to really appreciate the change and we were glad to do
something fitting for the holiday (since the 449 Room isn't exactly an Irish bar).
Thank you to everyone who came out to see us that night, we really appreciate your support as always, and we hope
you enjoyed yourselves at the show! Thank you to the greatest manager to ever exist, Morgan, for all of your help and
coordination throughout the night, you are always fantastic. Thank you to Michelle for all your help with the equipment
(and our Irish tattoos), along with your constant calming support! Thank you to Nick for filming the show again for us!
So what's in store for Odds Are? Well next weekend we hit studio again for more recording. We'll have updates on
that once we get another couple of songs out. And don't forget April 15th at the Saint in Asbury Park! Hopefully the
weather will be starting to turn a little nicer by then. We'll keep you updated!
