So... Girls, Girls, Girls... What a fantastic night! Now,
we are not an acoustic band, but we're all really glad we had the opportunity to do this show. The night began with
three strong acoustic performances by Ashley J, Miriam Sky, and of course, the wonderful organizer Lisa Faust.
Excellent job, everyone!
We took the stage somewhere around midnight... Started off nice and strong with "The Ledge" and the
trend continued throughout the night. All of us are feeling pretty good about our personal performances, which is
always a plus since you are your own worst critic.
Despite the fact that 3 out of the 4 band members were sick (in fact, it was actually all the girls, girls,
girls of Odds Are who were a little under the weather that night), we managed to pull it off like healthy strong
people. The audience barely noticed the coughing in between songs!
Our covers for the evening were as follows: "Bobby McGee" by Janis Joplin, "Like The Way I Do"
by Melissa Etheridge, "Jumper" by Third Eye Blind, and "Stay" by Lisa Loeb. Well, those were
the planned covers...
Bang Bang went all out of course with his fantastic drum solo, but since this was an acoustic set, he was a
little limited due to the removed toms from the set. Instead, we opened it up a bit and had some fun with the
audience - all 3 girls grabbed some form of auxilliary percussion and decided to join the audience for some
dancing and entertainment during Bang Bang's solo.
The highlight of the night, after the crowd had finished dancing with the band members of course, was the
continued encore requests from the audience that resulted in two additional covers at the end of the night -
"I Want You To Want Me" by Cheap Trick and "Piece of my Heart" by Janis Joplin. We were a
little rusty with those, but the audience didn't seem to mind and we warned everyone in advance.
Overall, what an incredible night! We all definitely had a blast and hope the audience did too.
And now of course, what journal would be complete without thanking those who made this evening possible:
Thanks to Lisa Faust for organizing the event and thinking of us for a performance, we greatly appreciate the
opportunity and hope we can do it again sometime! Thanks to our wonderful and beautiful manager, Morgan Harris,
for all of her efforts and her incredible ability to keep everything together despite the band's usual state of
chaos - we love you! Thanks to birthday boy Nick for taking the time to film our performance.
And last, but most definitely not least, thanks to all of you who came out in support of Odds Are. We hope
we delivered what you had wanted from us, and we can't wait to see you all again at our next show!
So please enjoy your holidays, everyone. Odds Are will most likely be returning to the stage in a few
weeks (sometime after the new year). We'll also be back in the studio recording with Bang Bang, so for those
of you who already purchased a CD, you'll be able to exchange it for a new updated recording once they're ready.
Wish us luck! See you all soon.
