Odds Are's Recap of the Finnigan's Show

June 16th, 2006

We performed at Finnigan's in East Windsor on Friday, June 16th. Jaime had recently returned from a vacation in Europe, and only had one rehearsal with the band before we took the stage at Finnigan's, so we were a little worried that the performance might have been off.

The good news is that the performance wasn't off at all - in fact, we all felt pretty good about the night! We had a very strategically planned set so that we could minimize all the breaks and flow right into things. It seemed to work!

We performed several of our favorite covers, along with our originals. We also made some changes to one of our oldest songs, "In the Dark", which we showcased for the first time.

One of our favorite moments was the special surprise song of the evening... It happened to be Laura's sister's birthday that evening, and she was in the audience that night. We broke into a punked out version of "Happy Birthday" with little warning, and she seemed to really enjoy it.

The set went really well, we were very happy, and we ended it with "Who I Am" and "Abandon Me". We thought it was a nice strong ending for the evening. Then we got encored, which is always a great feeling! We played "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" by Pat Benatar to close our set.

So this was definitely a good night for us. We felt like we played with a renewed intensity, and that's always uplifting. Thank you to everyone who made it out there, and thanks to everyone who made the show possible! Hopefully we'll continue to put on shows with the same intensity level in the future.

So what's next on the list of Odds Are events? Next Friday (June 23rd) is our United Way benefit at the Conduit in Trenton, NJ. Tickets are $10, proceeds will be donated to the United Way. The band Dollhouse Factor will be opening the show, followed by us, and then the night will be finished with a club atmosphere with DJ Hanni. It's definitely going to be a good night! Tickets are available and on sale now, you can get them through a band member, online at the Conduit website (www.conduitmusic.com), or at the door the night of the show. Please come support Odds Are, all of the guests, and the United Way! It's bound to be a good night for a good cause.

After the benefit, we'll be preparing for our upcoming show at Luna Stage in Montclair, NJ, part of the Digital Cafe Tour, on July 8th. This show is the one that will be filmed for an internet broadcast at a later time. This also should be a good show, and has a lot of great sponsors. More info will come on that one as we get closer, but keep the date in mind!

Hopefully we'll see you at the United Way benefit and/or the DCT gig! As always, thanks for all your support!
