Odds Are's Recap of the 449 Room Show

May 26th, 2006

Once again, we performed at the 449 Room. The night was interesting, to say the least... It started becoming interesting when we found out that we were the only band on for the evening - but we had only planned for a 45 minute set.

We decided to run the prepared set as planned, take a small break, and then go back up on stage and play whatever came to mind...

So we started the planned set. Things went well. While in the middle of a cover of "You Oughta Know", we realized that there were these young kids outside of the window (if you know the 449 room, you know that there's a giant window to the street right behind the stage). The kids were bobbing and dancing to our music. It was a very cute distraction!

We debuted a new song at this show as well. Our newest song, "Written In Stone", was performed for the first time in front of an audience. We actually finished writing the song 3 days before the show... So it was definitely a big chance that we were taking, but worth the chance. The audience seemed to respond well to it, and we managed to get through the song without it appearing to be as unrehearsed as it actually was.

Our second set (the unplanned portion of the evening) was mostly filled with various covers that we had played in the past. It was a good time. We loosened up, warned the audience that this was not planned, and had some fun with it. By the end of the night, audience members were making requests for songs that they knew we were able to play.

Thank you to everyone who made it out to the show, as always we appreciate the support and hope you had a good time with us!

So next up on Odds Are's to do list: June 23rd is our United Way benefit at the Conduit in Trenton. This should be a good night, and it's for a good cause, so please come check out the event! After that, on July 8th, we'll be performing at Luna Stage in Montclair, which is being video taped and then broadcast on the internet. So there's plenty of good stuff on the way!

Hopefully you can make it out to some of these events! As always, we'll keep you updated!
