Odds Are's Recap of the Bridgetown Pub Gig

November 5th, 2005

So we played at the Bridgetown Pub on Saturday night, 11/05/05. This was our first performance with Bill "Bang Bang" Martinson. He joined the band about a month ago, and this gig kind of came up on us really quickly, so in the beginning, we weren't sure what to expect about our first performance as a group. However, Bang Bang has done nothing but amaze us since his entrance into Odds Are, so as the time got closer and closer to the gig, we knew we'd be alright. Regardless, all first shows are nervewracking, and this one was no exception. And if you've been following the band for a while, then you might be aware of all the unnecessary drama that we've been through in the past... So you can't really blame us for being a little nervous!

We started off the show with "Got No Time For You"... As we were about to start playing, none of us were sure what we had gotten ourselves into, and the tension on stage was high! But as soon as the song began, and we started getting into it, all was well.

This gig was AWESOME for us. That's not to say we didn't make our fair share of mistakes, of course we did. No one's perfect, especially not on the first attempt. But the energy was high, the audience was great, and the whole show was a blast. The place was packed, which was fantastic.

Since the show has now past, we can recap some of our covers for the night, as it is no longer a surprise. We managed to take on "Piece of My Heart" by Janis Joplin, which seemed to be a success for our audience. The other winning cover was "You Oughta Know" by Alanis Morrisette. People certainly seemed to enjoy that one as well. In the future, we'll definitely break out some more covers that we hope will be appreciated by our audience again, along with our originals.

The end of the night was also a great time. We listened to an awesome performance by Heatsleeve, the headliners for the evening. Afterwards, most of the band ended up staying at the bar, just hanging out and having a good time.

Now come our thank yous for the evening: Thank you to everyone who made it out to support us. You guys are the best. We hope you had a good time, and we hope to see you again at our future gigs! Thank you to Heatsleeve, without you guys we wouldn't have had the show. You did an excellent job, and we felt like our bands compliment eachother well! Hopefully we'll get a chance to work together again in the future. Thank you to all of you who signed up for the mailing list, and purchased our CDs. Hopefully you will like what you hear, and we'll keep you updated now with all of our upcoming events. Thank you to our wonderful manager, Morgan Harris, the girl that we owe so much for all that she does. And last but not least, thank you to the owners of the Bridgetown Pub for giving us a place to play, complete with its own cool atmosphere.

If anyone has anything else to add about our show, please feel free to comment! We look forward to seeing you guys again!
